Description

Sumatriptan belongs to a group of medicines called triptans. It is a prescription medication used for the treatment of migraines (with or without aura) and cluster headaches. It is only effective when a migraine attack has started and cannot be used as a preventative treatment. It needs to be taken as soon as the onset of symptoms and may take 30-60 minutes to be effective. 

It is also available as a branded medicine called Imigran.
